Robert Mahoney has been giving music instruction in the Santa Cruz area since 1989; teaching people of all ages piano theory, technique, and improvisation. Beginners are welcome. He is the piano instructor at the KUUMBWA Jazz Camp, and his students learn in a recording studio with state-of-the-art equipment, including a Yamaha C7 piano, Musser Vibes, Yamaha drums ,and AKG and Neumann mics. His students can use the studio to make professional recordings. They also put on an annual jazz concert, complete with a professional drummer and bassist, at Kuumbwa Jazz Center the Sunday before Thanksgiving at 1pm. Admission is free.
